Povedilla

The Village

Povedilla is located in the southwest of the province of Albacete, 91 km from the provincial capital and bordering the province of Ciudad Real. It has approximately 400 inhabitants. The economy is mainly agricultural and livestock. Among the predominant crops are cereals, olives, sunflowers, leguminous plants, etc. The most important livestock is sheep. Hunting is also important, since the entire municipality is divided into several hunting grounds.

There is a typical gastronomy with local products that delights the visitor.

Things to See

One of the main tourist activities offered by the municipality is hunting, both small game (partridge, rabbit, hare, pigeon, etc.) and big game (wild boar, deer, etc.). This activity attracts a large number of visitors during a good part of the year.

Hiking is another attractive and important activity for Povedilla. There are a number of hiking trails with many paths and trails that lead and cross areas and landscapes of great interest, with abundant sources that make the way more attractive.

Festivities

Povedilla celebrates two main festivals throughout the year. The first is the Romería de San Marcos, a great country festival held on April 25. During the pilgrimage of San Marcos the whole town gathers in the countryside, with gastronomy as the main activity.

The second major festival is the first Sunday in October, when Povedilla celebrates the festivities in honor of the Virgen del Rosario. Of particular interest are the bullfighting festivals, in which the most prominent figures of bullfighting, exhibitions, contests, sports competitions, etc. take part.

Route of the Fountains

The route of the fountains is composed of different itineraries to walk through the pools, fountains, spouts and ponds of Povedilla. These routes take us through very different areas. The landscapes of Povedilla are so varied that each itinerary will take us through a different landscape; holm oaks, olive trees, fields and the fertile lowlands of the Povedilla river.
